How Do I Guarantee Your Budget?

I set the build price only after the requirements and scope have been investigated, validated and approved.


  • Business and technical audit: I investigate the workflows, requirements, existing systems and risks. The findings are documented in a Business Requirements Document (BRD).
  • Prototype and validation: My team creates a clickable prototype for interface-driven applications. For other projects, I use appropriate technical validation to resolve the uncertainties that affect scope and cost.
  • Scope approval: We finalize the features, integrations, exclusions, architecture, acceptance criteria and development milestones.
  • Guaranteed price: Once you approve the fixed scope, I provide the agreed build price in writing. That price remains fixed for the approved work.


If I underestimate the work included in the approved scope, you do not pay more.

HOW DO YOU KEEP DEVELOPMENT ON BUDGET?

I choose the development approach based on the project, but the approved scope, budget and acceptance criteria remain the baseline.


  • Milestone-based delivery: My team builds and delivers functionality in planned phases, so you can review progress against the agreed requirements.
  • Quality control: We test features, integrations and workflows against the acceptance criteria before considering them complete.
  • Direct accountability: I oversee technical decisions, track progress and address issues before they affect delivery.
  • Controlled changes: Any new requirements are assessed for cost and timeline impact and require your written approval before implementation.


I use Waterfall or a hybrid development approach depending on the project's needs. The methodology can vary, but the agreed build price stays fixed for the approved scope.

What does the Guarantee Require from You?

A fixed budget depends on clear requirements and timely decisions. I take responsibility for the agreed scope and build price. Your role is to help us validate the requirements and keep the project moving.


  • Participate in discovery: Help me understand your business, workflows and priorities. Give me access to the people and information needed to define the requirements.
  • Review and approve the scope: Walk through the prototype or technical design, clarify missing details and approve the requirements before development begins.
  • Stay involved during development: Review completed milestones, provide feedback and make decisions within the agreed timeframes.
  • Approve changes: If you need functionality outside the approved scope, review and authorize the additional cost and timeline before work begins.


Your participation helps keep the project on schedule. I remain responsible for delivering the approved scope at the agreed build price.

What Happens if the Software Scope Changes?

The approved Business Requirements Document (BRD), technical specifications, exclusions and acceptance criteria establish what your guaranteed build price covers.


  • If I underestimated the work: I cover the additional engineering effort needed to deliver the approved requirements. Your build price stays the same.
  • If you request new functionality: I assess the requirement and explain its impact on the budget and delivery schedule before any additional work begins.
  • If you approve a change: We document it in a written change order, including the additional scope, cost and timeline. Nothing changes without your written approval.


The guarantee protects your original agreement while giving you the flexibility to add or change features as your needs evolve.
